Salsa Body Lab (8 Weeks)

Wednesdays 8:15-9pm

Casual attendance allowed

Salsa Body Lab is a guided practise session designed to help you move more comfortably and confidently in your dancing. This is not a partnerwork class.

Instead of learning new material each week, this class focuses on developing the body skills that support great dancing. Unlike our regular courses, you’re welcome to attend Salsa Body Lab sessions casually and continue practising on your own, or attend regularly to build consistency.

Each 45-minute session includes:

• Gentle stretching to improve mobility and range of movement
• Isolation exercises to build body awareness and control
• Simple movement practice that supports rhythm, connection, and musicality

The routine will stay mostly consistent across the 8 sessions, allowing you to build familiarity and improve through repetition. This class is designed for people with little to no isolation training. Students are encouraged to practise the exercises at least twice a week between sessions to get the most benefit.

This class is ideal if you:

• Want to feel more comfortable and natural in your movement
• Feel stuck or plateaued in your dance journey
• Want to start adding simple body movement to your musicality
• Want to add more movement to your basic steps, shines, and partnerwork
• Are interested in attending Rumba or Afro classes in the future

At $6 per session ($5 when prepaid for the full term), Salsa Body Lab offers an accessible space to practice, explore movement, and support your progress in dance.

Perfect for absolute beginners or those wanting to sharpen their basics, Salsa Foundations is all about building a solid base in Cuban salsa. You’ll learn the beginner steps, how to connect with your partner, your body, and the music, and how to move confidently on the dance floor.

We focus on:

·        Leading and following techniques

·        Connection

·        Rhythm & timing

·        Posture & frame

·        Simple partnerwork & footwork

These are the building blocks for an enjoyable dance for both you and your partner. Through Salsa Foundations, you’ll gain the skills and confidence to dance basic salsa socially with ease! No partner is needed, we will rotate partners throughout the classes.
